Recovery Proceedings for Lojas Americanas: Gustavo Schmidt Appointed as Mediator
News - Published in
Still entangled in eviction actions, the case of Lojas Americanas will now involve mediation to resolve the dispute between the group and its creditors.
This week, Judge Paulo Assed Estefan (4th Business Court of Rio de Janeiro) appointed three mediators for the case, one of them being the President of CBMA, Gustavo da Rocha Schmidt.
According to the judge, 'eviction actions can hinder the recovery of Americanas, weakening the retailer's operations, endangering jobs, and the interests of the creditors.'
Furthermore, he emphasizes that both the Bankruptcy Law and the Civil Procedure Code encourage the use of mediation as a means of resolving conflicts.
